AGM Business
Parliamentarians present: Lord Aberdare, Earl of Clancarty, Lord Clement-Jones, David Warburton MP, Lord Black, Dame Diana Jonson MP, Lord Storey

The attending parliamentarians were joined by Deborah Annetts, ISM Chief Executive and Beni Evans, ISM Policy and Research Officer.
Welcome: Deborah Annetts, ISM Chief Executive
Deborah welcomed attending Parliamentarians to the AGM and gave a brief overview of the music education landscape across the UK. This included the impact of the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) accountability measure on the uptake of music in schools in England. Deborah went on to say that with the new personnel at the Department for Education, there is once again an opportunity to work towards reversing the decline of music education in schools, including moving from Progress 8 to Progress 5, and reforming the EBacc accountability measure. Deborah invited attendees to the free, education conference organised by the ISM on the 27 November 2021, and informed attendees that the APPG will be organising an APPG meeting in the near future with presentations from speakers within the sector.
